Wow – 40 it is!
The Batch of 1979 has been out of school for 40 years. Unbelievable, how time flew. Having shared those early years, those friendships, those emotions, that love, those fights; we were untouched by caste, creed or stature……….appreciating each other, just for the other.
Some of them became and are our closest friends; and others, just faded away in the recesses of our minds …………as life and its priorities took over. We got busy, building our careers………… our family…………our kids and looking inward at our own little world and our small set of friends.
Yet, each time we met, the warmth and bond rekindled as if time had held still;each time we recalled, it brought alive an inner smile. Such is the bond with School and with each other; perhaps, made so for us by Bond (our Late Guru M.N. Kapur).
Though time has moved, as have we, yet we lost touch with the other, not knowing …………where the other is ………….what they have done………..their careers …………their family…………their kids……..and more………….
And so was born the idea of this closed group web-site, an amateur attempt, to get to know more and interact with our classmate…………my classmate who was an integral part of my upbringing……….who in some way made me what I am today………..maybe with his or her touch……….or what they said…………….or what I imbibed from their actions………..…..who was integral in my impressionable years………
And so now we have a place….……….where we can, fill in the blanks of those missing years, add our photos, message the other …………….as we take on a more leisurely life pace…………..relive those moments, those memories that made the Batch of 1979 a real special group…………….
Go ahead……….explore……….comment and like…………and if you think appropriate…………..give some feedback too…………
Going through the pages is humbling……….for it brings both joy and pride to see how well so many have done. So much done…………so much achieved and collectively, the Class of 1979 are an amazing group of guys!! …………and gals!!
And finally……….do we need to say more………..
The topper of the class,
is a happy Homemaker.
Back bencher of the lot,
is an Entrepreneur.
The flamboyant fashionista,
became a dreaded lawyer.
Often ignored Joe,
turned a well known Writer.
The one who failed the math paper,
is a Fashion Designer.
And the one who often got to stand outside
the class, is a respected Army Officer.
The reunion taught me,
How people come with many layers,
And told me why we should never judge a book by its cover.
Each of us out there has a different success story!!
Affectionately
Kavi
